Online California Bail Information Services — Start the Process 24/7
At 24 Hour Online Bail Informaion, families can find California bail information after hours, on weekends, and from another city.
Online service does not replace the jail or court. A surety bond still has to be accepted by the booking facility, and release time depends on jail processing, holds, warrants, medical clearance, and court hours. What we can do is provide free bail information.
A bail bond is not a transfer of the full bail amount to a “department of justice.” The court sets the bail figure, a surety undertaking for that amount. You pay a separate, generally non-refundable premium based on rates the surety has filed with the California Department of Insurance, plus any actual, necessary, and reasonable expenses allowed by regulation.
How Bail Works
When the indemnitor and the payment method clear the verification steps, a bond company can accept the premium through common electronic channels. Some options that currently are used include debit or credit card, PayPal, Venmo. Cash remains available if you prefer to arrange an in-person payment and receipt with a bond company.
These methods pay a premium and allowed charges. They are not a substitute for the bond the jail or court must accept, and a completed online payment does not by itself release anyone from custody. Then a bond company can issue a receipt for premium collected and can provide copies of the payment record on request.
Electronic payments are typically subject to identity checks, available limits on the platform, and anti-fraud review. If a payment is delayed, reversed, or declined, the bond cannot be treated as funded until good funds are confirmed.
Can Bail Bond Documents Be Signed Electronically
Required bail agreements and indemnity forms can often be reviewed and signed electronically when California law and the surety allow e-signatures for that document. The forms to read before signing are often posted on bail bond company websites and available via email or fax. An e-signature is used only after the signer has had a chance to review the premium, collateral terms (if any), and obligations if the defendant misses court.
If a surety or a particular jail still requires a wet signature or original paperwork, the bond company should tell you before you pay.
Payment Plans and Posted-Bond Timing
Defendant's do not pay the court’s full bail figure to us unless they are choosing cash bail. For a surety bond clients pay the filed premium. If a payment plan is offered, the down payment, schedule, and any allowed fees need to be disclosed in writing first.
After a bond is posted and the jail accepts it, release is controlled by the facility—not by the bail agent. Night and weekend bookings can take longer than a weekday daytime release even when the agent’s paperwork is already complete.
How to Start a Bail Bond by Phone, Any Hour
Call a licensed agent and provide the defendant’s name, booking facility, and bail amount as set by the court or bail schedule. We do not set the bail and we do not decide the charges; those come from the court and the arresting agency. We use the public booking information to help families.
Phone and online intake allows bond companies to post bail quickly. “Posted by phone” means the agent can prepare and submit the bond paperwork remotely or after-hours posting. It is not a promise that the defendant will be walking out in a set number of hours.
